The City of Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city, but offers so much more than an urban city life. Auckland offers everything you expect of a city, plus the joys of the ocean and nature right on its back door. Auckland is a great marine escape with over 50 islands to explore. Auckland has a population of over 1.6 million, which is about a third of the entire population of New Zealand.

Auckland City lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges to the west and north-west. Auckland is one of the few cities in the world to have harbours on two separate bodies of water.

Auckland's amazing geography and warm, humid climate has generated a lifestyle that many come to experience and is regularly ranked in the world's top 10 livable cities. In just a few minutes drive you can be outside the city limits, sailing through its various waters, island hopping, trekking the native bush and wilderness, touring the vineyards or escaping to remote and wild beaches.
